Merry Christmas and Share The Love and Kindness

Hello everyone,

I wanted to jump on my blog real quick (maybe) and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, whatever or however you celebrate your holiday with friends, and family.

I found myself earlier today responding to an article that was shared on FB via “BLAZE” about a ornery older woman spewing hate, and racism to two Hispanic woman at a JcPenny check out. I was appalled at the video and how this older woman handled herself. Even if she felt frustrated by the one woman adding a few extra items to the checkout, she did not handle herself well. In-fact she handled herself far from how a “lady” should handle herself. I for one want to raise a lady and be an example to her even when I am weak and fall, and I do fall more often then I care to admit. Anyway, I responded with my own opinion to this post, about how I was ashamed to be a white female woman. Seeing how poorly this older woman handled herself, and her lack of kindness or patience. I was then attacked by three individuals from my response which was all about me feeling ashamed and how we are one race “THE HUMAN RACE”. I ended up deleting my comment because I don’t care for drama or negative/hostile type people.

I also don’t want to make this a negative, dragged through the mud kind of a post either.. but, I do have a point. My point in saying all this, is I found myself so shocked in the cruelty and hate in this world. It seems to be more and more frequent these days (and I know its not by all, in fact I am sure there are more good then bad). As I read through a ton of the comments in that FB post, I found it filled with negative, hate, and racism. One after the other, and all by different people. The worst to me, is that we are so close to “Christmas” and this is a time of year, where we can and should practice and share more love, kindness, and more patience. What happened?

The line in which these Hispanic woman were in, was a long line, and the older woman was directly behind them. There were lots of people waiting, and I get its a stressful time of year, and folks anxiety levels are higher then the norm. However, when did we all loose sight of the love (where is the love)? I couldn’t believe that nobody in that line defended these two woman who where being verbally attacked and humiliated.

I know I share my faults with patience and frustration and I have anxiety too, that I treat myself for. Still, I would never treat another human being like scum, like a filthy animal, and I definitely would not treat them like their not a human being made of the same flesh and blood as the rest of us.

I just want to say, that whether or not you believe in God and his son Jesus Christ, I am sure you believe in the”Good.” The Good that our God and his Son exemplify. I know you all believe in the goodness of people, the goodness in charity, the goodness in selflessness, the goodness in kindness.

Therefore, I ask that we all (including myself) practice the “goodness” in all things… just a little bit more, it can bring more goodness into our day and into our life. My word for 2017 is “Goodness”.

Bless you all. Hugs, jenlarsen-family-christmas-card-deers-2016

  1. Thank you for sharing your feelings on that woman’s treatment of fellow human beings, at Christmas time no less. I was also saddened. I am not sure I would have stepped up, had I been in line. I hope I would have, but I might have felt like that would have contributed to an already negative, embarrassing situation. It has now become my goal to start speaking up and start surrounding myself with positive people. No longer will I allow negative exchanges to occur in my presence. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas! Enjoy your family!

  2. Beautifully written and expressed.
It doesn’t cost us anything to be kind, as the saying goes “treat others the way you’d like to be treated”.
God was you and your family.
